Austrian chancellor rules out embargo on Russian gas
VIENNA, Jul 28 (PRIME) -- Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer ruled out an embargo on Russian gas any time soon at a press conference after a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
"The Austrian position is that a gas embargo is impossible. Not only because we, as the Republic of Austria, are dependent on Russian gas, but because the German industry is also dependent on it, and if it loses stability, the same will happen to the Austrian," Nehammer said.
Orban said that Hungary continues to oppose an E.U. embargo on Russian gas and is not alone in that position.
